Rum Daisy sits in the “Daisy” family of cocktails: bright, citrus-led sours typically softened with a touch of sweetness and often finished with a little fizz. While the broader Daisy style is an old template rather than a single fixed recipe, this rum-leaning version reads as a light, refreshing twist that keeps things simple and punchy, with a clean spirit base and a vivid, pink-tinged finish.
You’ll find white rum bringing a crisp, lightly sweet backbone that lets the lemon juice take centre stage with sharp, mouthwatering acidity. Grenadine adds a measured pomegranate-like sweetness that rounds the lemon’s edge and gives the drink a gentle fruit depth without turning it heavy. A dash of soda water lifts everything, nudging the flavours upward and making the citrus and rum feel brighter and more agile on the palate.
Serve it in a cocktail glass when you want something zesty and upbeat that still feels a little dressed up. It suits warm afternoons, pre-dinner sipping, or any moment you’d normally reach for a classic sour but want a lighter, more sparkling finish. If you like citrus-forward drinks with a hint of fruit sweetness, this one lands neatly in your wheelhouse.

White rum and lemon juice lead with a crisp, tart snap, while grenadine adds a light pomegranate sweetness and blushy fruit note, and a dash of soda water lifts everything into a brighter, airier sip. It works because the lemon’s acidity keeps the grenadine from cloying and the rum stays clean underneath; ideal for sour lovers who want a quick, refreshing, lightly sweet fizz.
