The Harvest Sparkle sits in that autumnal corner of cocktail culture where bourbon meets bubbles and warm spice, reading like a seasonal spritz with a whiskey backbone. Rather than a storied classic with a fixed origin, it feels like a modern, home-bar style drink built around familiar harvest flavours—citrus, honey, ginger, and baking spices—lifted into something celebratory with Champagne or prosecco.
You’ll find bourbon’s rounded, oaky richness anchoring a big sweep of orange juice, while honey brings a deep, lingering sweetness that softens the citrus. Ginger adds a bright, warming bite that keeps the honey from feeling heavy, and cinnamon plus cloves layer in a dry, aromatic spice that echoes the bourbon’s natural warmth. Topped with Champagne/prosecco, the bubbles lighten the whole mix, making the orange-and-honey core feel fresher and more vibrant.
Serve it when you want a festive drink that still feels cozy—think fall gatherings, holiday brunches, or an easy aperitif that doubles as a toast. If you like whiskey but don’t always want something spirit-forward, this is a crowd-pleaser: familiar, spiced, and sparkling, with enough sweetness to win over citrus lovers too.

Ingredients
Cocktail Colin says:
Bourbon and Champagne/prosecco ride over a big wave of orange juice and honey, while ginger brings a sharp bite and cinnamon and cloves add a warm, woody spice that lingers through the fizz. It works because the bubbles lift the heavy honey and spice and the ginger heat cuts the sweetness, making it ideal for drinkers who like bold, spiced, citrusy spritzes with a whiskey backbone.

FAQ's
What is the best method to integrate the honey into The Harvest Sparkle cocktail?
To ensure the honey integrates smoothly with the other ingredients of The Harvest Sparkle, first, slightly warm the honey to make it less viscous. Then, mix it with a small quantity of the bourbon or orange juice to thin it down before adding it to the rest of the cocktail ingredients. Stir well to ensure it's fully dissolved.
Can I substitute another spirit for bourbon in The Harvest Sparkle?
Yes, if you're looking to substitute the bourbon in The Harvest Sparkle, a good choice could be a dark rum or an aged brandy. Both will complement the cocktail's sweet and spicy profile, though they will slightly alter the final taste.
What is the ideal serving temperature for The Harvest Sparkle?
The Harvest Sparkle is best served cold. You can achieve this by stirring the mix over ice to chill it without dilution before straining into a cocktail glass. Topping up with chilled champagne or prosecco will also ensure the cocktail is served at an ideal cold temperature.
How does the alcohol content of The Harvest Sparkle compare to a standard glass of wine?
The alcohol content of The Harvest Sparkle is approximately 3.49%, which is significantly lower than a standard glass of wine, which typically has an alcohol content of around 12-14%. Thus, The Harvest Sparkle is a lighter alternative, making it suitable for occasions when you're looking for a less intoxicating option.
What season is The Harvest Sparkle best suited for?
Given its name and the warm, spicy notes from cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, along with the presence of honey and orange juice, The Harvest Sparkle is particularly suited for the autumn season. It perfectly complements the flavors associated with fall harvest and can be a delightful addition to seasonal celebrations.
