I worked a winter season in Ginger 'n' Gin, my boss told me and my colleague he wanted to have a drink based on tequila. And so it started...
Since I am really into sours I thought it would be cool to give it a sour twist. After some fine-tuning this cocktail was made.

FAQ's
What is the best method to achieve a frothy texture with the egg white in Jack's Sour?
The key to achieving a frothy texture with the egg white in Jack's Sour is to ensure a vigorous shake. First, dry shake (shake without ice) the cocktail ingredients with the egg white to start the emulsification process. Then, add ice and shake again to chill and further aerate the mixture. This double-shaking method is critical for creating a silky, frothy texture typical of sours that include egg white.
Can I replace raspberry with another fruit in Jack's Sour?
Yes, raspberries can be replaced with another fruit in Jack's Sour, depending on your taste preference or availability. Blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries make good alternatives as they maintain the fruity balance without overpowering the cocktail. Adjust the quantity based on the sweetness and tartness of the substitute fruit to keep the cocktail's overall balance.
Is there a non-alcoholic version of Jack's Sour?
To create a non-alcoholic version of Jack's Sour, substitute the tequila and orange liqueur with non-alcoholic alternatives. Non-alcoholic tequila and a mix of non-alcoholic orange extract with a syrup can imitate the original flavors. Maintain the lemon juice, sugar syrup, egg white, and bitters to preserve the cocktail's character. This version will replicate the cocktail's complex flavors without the alcohol.
What type of grapefruit bitters work best in Jack's Sour?
For Jack's Sour, using grapefruit bitters that have a balanced bitter and citrus flavor profile works best. The bitters should complement the drink's tartness without overwhelming it. Look for high-quality grapefruit bitters that offer a clear grapefruit taste with subtle herbal undertones to enhance the cocktail's complexity.
How does the alcohol content in Jack's Sour compare to other sour cocktails?
Jack's Sour, with an alcohol content of 13.67%, falls within the typical range for sour cocktails, which can vary between 10% and 20% alcohol by volume (ABV). Its strength is moderate compared to other sours, making it an enjoyable choice for those who prefer a balanced cocktail that is neither too strong nor too light.
