Peppermint hot chocolate is a cosy, dessert-leaning hot drink that blends the comfort of cocoa with the bright lift of mint. It sits firmly in the winter-warmer tradition of café-style hot chocolates, where a simple flavour twist turns a familiar treat into something a little more special. Rather than leaning on a long, fixed origin story, this one feels like a modern, home-and-bar favourite: indulgent, aromatic, and built for slow sipping from an Irish glass.
You’ll find the hot chocolate brings deep cocoa richness, while milk smooths and softens the intensity into a rounded, creamy base. Sugar nudges the sweetness forward, helping the chocolate taste fuller and more dessert-like. Mint leaves add a fresh, cooling herbal note that cuts through the richness, and cream on top adds an extra layer of silky weight that makes each sip feel more luxurious.
Serve it when you want comfort with a clean, minty finish—after dinner, on a cold evening, or as a festive alternative to coffee. It suits anyone who loves chocolate-forward drinks but wants something that feels lighter on the palate than pure cocoa alone, with the mint keeping things bright and refreshing.

Cocktail Colin says:
Hot chocolate and sugar deliver a thick cocoa sweetness in warm milk, while mint leaves add a cool, leafy brightness that lifts the chocolate; cream rounds everything into a plush, dessert-like sip. It works because the mint’s freshness keeps the milk-and-cream richness from feeling heavy, making it ideal for anyone who wants a cozy, sweet hot drink with a clean, minty finish.
