Going Nuts for Cocktails
Jump to
Peanut butter on hot steaming toast is one of the most comforting foods ever, working for a quick and easy breakfast, lunch or dinner, or any meal in between. The thick, sticky texture is extremely moreish – so much, in fact, that some clever sparks have found a way to include it in their happy hour!
Peanut butter cocktails are really a thing! Here are some of our favourite concoctions for you to savour.
Peanut Butter Martini
James Bond’s favourite tipple has had an overhaul. Peanut butter is the latest ingredient to rewrite the rules on the Martini. Combining caramel vodka with spiced rum, chocolate schnapps, milk and peanut butter, this incredibly indulgent cocktail is topped off with a peanut butter cup garnish. Just remember to enjoy it shaken, not stirred!Hershey’s Squirts
A cocktail that won’t be easy to knock back, the Hershey’s Squirts is non-the-less a chocolate-lovers dream, with Buttershots liqueur, chocolate syrup and Bailey’s, all combined with a dollop of smooth peanut butter. A shooter that might take a little longer than normal to swallow!
Peanutty Buddy
Peanut butter seems to mix well with milk when it comes to cocktails, effortlessly proven by the Peanutty Buddy. Adding an extra layer of nuttiness with Frangelico, this surprisingly smooth drink also includes lemon-lime soda and crème de cacao.Peanut Butter & Jelly
So, this recipe is a little bit of a cheat, if you don’t have any peanut butter to hand. The simple combination of Frangelico, Bailey’s and cranberry juice makes for a drink that tastes just like the liquid version of a peanut butter and jam sandwich, so that you can forgive the omission of the real thing and reminisce about your misspent childhood!
Peanut Punch
Of course, the nutty spread is a childhood favourite, so we couldn’t complete this list without a tasty mocktail that the little ones can enjoy too. Peanut Punch is made up of peanut butter, milk, honey, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg and gives a unique flavour that, once acquired, is extremely moreish. If you’d prefer to enjoy a Spiked Peanut Punch, add a shot of rum for an authentic Caribbean experience.
Peanut butter might not be the most obvious of cocktail ingredients, but as a firm family favourite, it adds a shot of protein to any drink while helping to line the stomach at the same time! What’s not to love?!
