Rattle Snake cocktail

Glass type

Lowball glass
Lowball glass

4 ingredients

Originally featured in Harry Craddock’s famous 'The Savoy Cocktail Book' of 1930. The book says about this cocktail: "So called because it will either cure Rattlesnake bite, or kill Rattlesnakes, or make you see them".

Method

The recipe here uses two egg whites, and a 4:1 ratio of rye whisky to sweetened lemon juice. Add all the ingredients with ice to a cocktail shaker and shake until thoroughly mixed and chilled, before straining through a fine sieve into a lowball glass and serving.
