Absoult Summer is a bright, easy-drinking vodka highball that leans into citrus refreshment and a hint of garden-fresh lift. It sits firmly in the modern “flavoured vodka and mixer” family—built for simplicity, long pours, and warm-weather sipping—where the focus is on clean, approachable flavour rather than a deep backstory.
You’ll find lemon vodka sets a zesty, spirited base, while lemonade stretches it out into something light, sweet, and tangy. A pinch of sugar nudges the sweetness up a notch and smooths the sharper edges of the citrus. Mint leaves add a cool, aromatic accent that plays nicely with the lemon, and the lemon and lime wedges bring an extra pop of fresh-squeezed brightness, with lime adding a slightly sharper citrus snap alongside the softer lemon notes.
Serve it when you want something tall, crisp, and uncomplicated—ideal for sunny afternoons, barbecues, or casual get-togethers. If you like citrus-forward drinks that stay refreshing from first sip to last, this one fits the bill, especially when you want a crowd-pleaser that still feels lively and clean.

Cocktail Colin says:
Lemon vodka and lemonade lead with bright, sweet-tart citrus, while mint leaves add a cool green lift; a pinch of sugar rounds the edges, and lemon and lime wedges sharpen the finish with extra zest and juice. It works because the mint freshness and lime bite cut through the lemonade’s sweetness and amplify the lemon vodka, making it ideal for highball fans who want an easy, breezy citrus refresher.

FAQ's
How do I properly muddle the mint leaves for the Absolut Summer cocktail?
To properly muddle the mint leaves for the Absolut Summer cocktail, start by placing the mint leaves at the bottom of the glass. Use a muddler to gently press down and twist over the leaves. Be careful not to shred the mint but instead to lightly bruise the leaves to release their essential oils. This technique will infuse the mint flavor into the cocktail without making it bitter.
What is the best way to serve the Absolut Summer to enhance its flavors?
The best way to serve the Absolut Summer cocktail is in a highball glass filled with ice. After preparing the cocktail according to the recipe, pour it over the ice and garnish with a lemon wedge and a lime wedge. This not only adds to the visual appeal but also enhances the drink's citrus flavors, making it more refreshing.
Can I substitute limeade for lemonade in the Absolut Summer cocktail?
Yes, you can substitute limeade for lemonade in the Absolut Summer cocktail. This substitution can add a tangy twist to the drink, offering a slightly different flavor profile while maintaining the cocktail's refreshing nature. Adjust the sugar amount if the limeade is significantly sweeter or more sour than the lemonade you're substituting.
How does the alcohol content in Absolut Summer compare to a standard cocktail?
The Absolut Summer has an alcohol content of 40%, which refers to the alcohol by volume (ABV) of the lemon vodka used in the recipe, not the entire cocktail. Typically, the overall alcohol content of a mixed drink is lower due to the dilution with non-alcoholic ingredients. For reference, standard cocktails usually range from 15% to 30% ABV after mixing, making Absolut Summer relatively moderate depending on the final dilution after preparation.
Is there a non-alcoholic version of the Absolut Summer cocktail, and how can I make it?
Yes, there's a non-alcoholic version of the Absolut Summer cocktail that you can easily make by substituting the lemon vodka with a non-alcoholic spirit that offers a citrus flavor profile, or simply by omitting the alcohol entirely. Use the same proportions of lemonade, mint leaves, lemon, lime, and a pinch of sugar. This variation keeps the refreshing taste of the cocktail while making it suitable for non-drinkers.
