FAQ's
Can I substitute anything for Advocaat in a Snowball cocktail?
Yes, if you can't find Advocaat or prefer a different flavor, you can substitute it with eggnog or a mixture of custard and brandy for a similar creamy texture and taste. The cocktail's unique richness comes from Advocaat, so substitutes will slightly alter the final taste.
Why is the Snowball cocktail shaken and not stirred?
The Snowball cocktail is shaken to thoroughly combine the viscous Advocaat with the other more liquid ingredients (lime juice and lemonade), ensuring an even and smooth texture throughout. Shaking also chills the drink more effectively than stirring, enhancing the cocktail's refreshing quality.
What is the best way to serve a Snowball cocktail?
The Snowball cocktail is best served in a chilled cocktail glass. Optionally, it can be garnished with a slice of lime or a maraschino cherry to add a pop of color and an extra layer of flavor. Ensure the cocktail is well-shaken before pouring to enjoy its full creamy and refreshing taste.
How does the alcohol content of a Snowball compare to other classic cocktails?
With an alcohol content of 5.83%, the Snowball cocktail is on the lower end of the spectrum compared to many classic cocktails. For example, a Martini typically has an alcohol content around 20-30%, making the Snowball a milder option suitable for those preferring a less potent drink.
Is there a particular season when the Snowball cocktail is most enjoyed?
The Snowball cocktail, with its creamy and refreshing characteristics, is particularly popular during the winter holiday season. Its name and the use of Advocaa,t a rich and velvety liqueur, evoke a festive spirit, making it a favorite choice for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Surprisingly enjoyed this one! Normally not a fan of creamy cocktails since they tend to be too rich, but the lime juice added a nice tang that balanced it out. The lemonade's fizz was a nice touch. Slightly sweet but not overwhelming. Worth a try if you're hesitant like me.
It’s smooth and balanced with a nice citrus kick. Make sure to chill the glass before serving. A sprinkle of nutmeg can add a warm touch if you don't have cinnamon. Cheers!
