Sea Volcano is a bright, tropical-leaning tequila cocktail that plays in the colourful “volcano” tradition of layered-looking, party-ready drinks rather than a single fixed classic with a widely documented origin. You’ll find it sits firmly in the modern sour-and-cordial family: crisp blanco tequila at the core, citrus lift, and vivid liqueur sweetness designed to look as striking as it tastes in a cocktail glass.
On the palate, tequila blanco brings clean agave bite that keeps the sweeter elements in check. Blue curaçao adds a bold orange-tinged sweetness, while orange cordial doubles down on that citrus-candy note for a rounded, juicy mid-palate. A dash of lime juice cuts through with sharp acidity, tightening the profile so it doesn’t feel cloying. Grenadine contributes a smooth pomegranate-like sweetness that deepens the fruit character and gives the drink a richer finish.
This is the kind of cocktail you reach for when you want something vibrant, easygoing, and unapologetically fun—ideal for summer nights, beach-party moods, or any time you’re serving a crowd that loves colourful citrus drinks. If you enjoy tequila but prefer it softened by orange and fruit sweetness, this one lands especially well.

Ingredients
Cocktail Colin says:
Tequila blanco leads with clean agave snap wrapped in blue curaçao and orange cordial’s candied citrus, while a dash of lime juice adds a quick tart flick and grenadine brings pomegranate-like sweetness that reads lush and vividly “tropical.” It works because the lime keeps the curaçao-cordial combo from turning cloying and the tequila’s bite anchors the sugar, making it best for drinkers who like bright, colorful, sweet-leaning citrus cocktails.
