Cannabis Clubs and Cannabis-Infused Cocktails: What’s Allowed?

Cannabis clubs, particularly in regions like Spain, have become popular social spaces where members can consume cannabis in a private setting. These clubs operate within a unique legal framework, often functioning as private associations that allow members to cultivate and share cannabis. However, the preparation and serving of cannabis-infused cocktails in these clubs can be more complex and depends heavily on local regulations.

Legal Considerations

The legality of cannabis-infused cocktails in cannabis clubs varies significantly depending on local laws. In many regions, the infusion of cannabis into alcohol is either restricted or outright illegal due to concerns about the amplified effects of combining THC with alcohol. For example, in Spain, where cannabis clubs are legal, consumption of cannabis-infused products is generally confined to private spaces, and commercial sales, including cannabis-infused alcoholic beverages, are not permitted.

As a result, while cannabis clubs may allow cannabis consumption and offer cannabis products, the legality of preparing and serving cannabis-infused cocktails could be limited. Clubs that do wish to offer such beverages might instead focus on non-alcoholic cannabis-infused drinks, which are less legally contentious.

Cannabis Clubs and Non-Alcoholic Options

Given these legal challenges, many cannabis clubs opt to provide non-alcoholic cannabis-infused beverages, such as teas, juices, or smoothies, which can be infused with cannabis oil or tinctures. Additionally, another popular option for these beverages is the use of canna. These are available in many pharmacies and are designed to provide a calming effect when added to drinks. Canna drops are a convenient way to incorporate cannabis into beverages, offering a consistent dosage and ease of use without the need for extensive preparation.

Growing Weed Seeds Your Own for Club Use

For cannabis clubs that encourage members to grow their own cannabis, starting with high-quality weed seeds is crucial. Using reputable sources like 2Fast4Buds for weed seeds ensures that members can cultivate potent plants suitable for both smoking and culinary use. This not only enhances the quality of cannabis-infused products but also supports the club's culture of self-sufficiency and shared experience.

Recipe: Cannabis-Infused Mojito with Canna

If your local regulations allow, or if you're making this at home, here’s a refreshing and simple recipe for a Cannabis-Infused Mojito—a perfect non-alcoholic option that can be enjoyed at a cannabis club or private gathering.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz cannabis-infused simple syrup (see instructions below)

  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves

  • 1/2 lime, cut into wedges

  • Club soda

  • Crushed ice

  • Mint sprig and lime wheel (for garnish)

  • A few drops of canna drops (optional for extra relaxation)

Instructions:

1.     Prepare the Cannabis-Infused Simple Syrup:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Add 1-2 grams of decarboxylated cannabis and simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the cannabis plant material.

  4. Let it cool, then store it in the refrigerator.

2.     Make the Mojito:

  1. Muddle the mint leaves and lime wedges in a glass to release the flavors.

  2. Add the cannabis-infused simple syrup and stir well.

  3. Fill the glass with crushed ice, then top off with club soda.

  4. Add a few drops of canna drops for an additional calming effect.

  5. Stir gently to combine.

  6. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime wheel.

Tips:

  • Adjust the amount of cannabis-infused syrup and canna drops based on your tolerance and desired effects.

  • For a non-alcoholic version, you can omit any alcohol completely, but if regulations allow, you could include a splash of white rum to create a classic mojito with a cannabis twist.

This Cannabis-Infused Mojito offers a refreshing way to enjoy the benefits of cannabis in a delicious, social drink that’s perfect for a relaxing evening with friends at a cannabis club or in the comfort of your own home. The addition of canna drops provides an extra layer of relaxation, making this cocktail both enjoyable and soothing.

Bartender's top tip

Like cooking, making cocktails is a culinary art that benefits from tasting and adjusting. Before serving, taste your cocktail with a straw or spoon and adjust if necessary. Maybe it needs a touch more sweetness, a bit more acidity to brighten it up, or a dilution adjustment. Personalize each drink to your liking, and don't be afraid to stray from the recipe to create something that suits your taste perfectly.
