There’s something stylish about drinking a cocktail. It’s almost a personal signature that an individual can hang their hat on after work and play. From James Bond’s “shaken, not stirred” Martinis to Tom Cruise’s special bartender skills in Cocktail the movie, it’s a drink that has style.

The Bond connection is fascinating. Consumers can now play casino games from backgammon to online blackjack, remembering all those famous scenes where 007 made his luck over the decades.

Land-based casinos offer the kind of drinks that reflect everything from 1970s Sean Connery to the modern-day trends. Cocktails are very much part of the casino culture.

Ready To Drink Cocktails Are Popular

Restaurants and brands have reassessed their stance on the promotion of cocktails. They are associated with glamour and decadence. There was a sense of inspiration and aspiration with the choice of a drink that has so many diverse versions.

In the 21st century, things have changed as the dial of life has speeded up. Operators have understood the market and the faster way of living in the Millennium. Ready to Drink cocktails have now become more mainstream because of the convenience they offer. Pre-mixed and pre-packaged don’t sound like quality, but they have improved in quality.

The new army of Millennials seek healthier versions of the cocktail, leading to a surge in demand for RTDs with more natural ingredients and wholesome, refreshing tastes.

The drink in hand can provide a clue to what sort of player in life that person is. Cocktails can be an insight into the traits of the individual. Once someone is branded with a label, that is harder to shake than 007’s favorite tipple.

The Old Fashioned A Firm But Traditional Favorite

There’s the Old Fashioned, which has a kind of respectable, traditional heritage with its mix of bitters, water, sugar and whiskey. This cocktail is one that lives by its name but is still sophisticated.

It is not a cheap version or duplicate of something. The identity is easy to taste and see. It could be seen as conservative, without the addition of any trendy new tastes, but it’s more about the simple pleasures of life.

The Mojito Personality Is Adventurous

The Mojito is the antithesis of conservative. This drink is not stuck in the same ways or seeing life only through one prism. The Mojito fan is laid back and loves life as well as the spirit of adventure. The classic ingredients of the drink are mint, lime and rum which embodies that sense of exploration and freshness.

This drink says everything about not being tied down to one place for too long. It’s Club Tropicana but with the spirit of lounging and then leaving.

The Margarita and Bloody Mary Like Chalk and Cheese

The Margarita is a classic drink of the trendsetter and the leader of the gang. It’s one of those cocktails that can have a twist and the modern version of spicy is very trendy right here, right now. If there’s a dance floor nearby, then the modern Marg man or woman is making shapes on there first.

Those who prefer the Bloody Mary are more likely to be a highly organised A.M. person who functions better without the sickly sweet. The Bloody Mary drinker is a reserved stickler for class and tradition, an observer who likes to survey. They like stability rather than change.

Long Island Is A Swift Hit

Long Island Tea drinkers are said to cut to the chase quickly. With the amount of alcohol in this mix, it can be popular among students who want to feel the high. It’s four different spirits fighting each other all in the same drink, a youth-driven mixer for sure and one to get any party started.

A Long Islander is living in the moment with a blitz to the senses. This is a zeitgeist moment, one that has Long in the title but goes for swift headiness.

As fun as this all seems, there is a body of evidence that suggests that preferred context, as well as sensory and personality traits affect the liking for drinks.  Although it is easy to get into the stereotypes that bartenders might discuss among their customers, there is a pool of personality traits swimming in that drink.

There is a whole raft of reasons why the cocktail remains a central talking point of cultural times. Whether it’s for a retro image that has been on global screens oozing charm and class, or a ready to drink concoction for life in the fast lane.

“Cocktails, like dreams, are made of the spirit stuff,” said restaurateur Danny Meyer. He might be right.
