Breaking Down the Dill or No Dill Mocktail Inspired by the Hit TV Show
Jump to
Deal or No Deal was huge for UK television. The concept of the game is very simple too, as all you need to do is choose a briefcase, and then decide whether or not you’d like to accept an offer for it or risk it for more. It’s also gone on to inspire several different spinoffs, and interestingly, a mocktail recipe.
The Widespread Impact of Deal or No Deal
Deal or No Deal has had a profound impact on the entertainment sector. Several spinoff shows have also been created. Deal or No Deal Island is a US competition series that premiered last year, hosted by Joe Manganiello. It features contestants who take part in physical challenges, to mix up the format.
Then there’s a mobile game that takes inspiration from the show, which is very popular on the app store. The show has also sparked new variations within the iGaming sector, with the Deal or No Deal Lightning Spins game. In this game, when you spin the slot’s five reels, you need to match several symbols, including the White Cup, Telephone, Golden Envelope, or the Banker’s Wax Stamp. There’s also the Wild Red Box, which serves as the wild and the jackpot symbol.
With so many elements taking inspiration from the original show, it’s safe to say that the influence of Noel Edmonds' classic television program is taking on whole new formats. There’s now even a Dill or No Dill mocktail, created in honour of the program. You can find the recipe below.
The Dill or No Dill Lemon Mocktail
The Dill or No Dill mocktail contains muddled cucumber and dill, which is paired with notes of mint, cardamom and lemon. With summer fast-approaching, this is a great choice for those who want something refreshing, that also pays homage to the hit TV show. To make this recipe, you’ll need some cucumber slices, a tablespoon of dill, and a teaspoon of citrus sugar. It's even better if you use home-grown dill here, as it's got so much more vibrancy, and it'll be extra fresh for your mocktail. You can find out how to do that by reading this post on LoveTheGarden.
Muddle the three ingredients together until the dill is aromatic and bruised. Ideally, the sugar will be dissolved at this point. You’ll then add one ounce of lemon juice, and equal amounts of lemon shrub with cardamom and mint. Top it all off with ice and shake it until it is cold. Ideally, you want the shaker to be sweating, before you consider stopping to pour.

To present the Dill or No Dill mocktail, simply strain it into a glass and then top it off with some club soda and a bit of garnish. You can garnish with a lemon wedge, or you can use a cucumber slice on the rim of the glass.
If you want to make your mocktail look fancy, consider topping it off with some edible flowers, as listed on the RHS website, as this will add a nice vibrancy to the appearance, which will reflect the taste of the mocktail you have just created. It’s that simple, and a fantastic way for you to experiment with different flavours.
