The North Pole is a rich, dessert-leaning vodka cocktail that sits somewhere between an after-dinner sipper and an indulgent cream drink. Rather than a storied classic with a fixed origin, it reads like a modern, winter-themed creation built around familiar crowd-pleasers: coffee liqueur, chocolate, and cream. You’ll find it channels that cosy “spiked mocha” comfort, but with vodka keeping the base clean and letting the sweeter elements take centre stage.
On the palate, vodka provides a neutral backbone for the coffee liqueur’s roasted sweetness, while simple syrup deepens the overall sugar note and smooths any edges. Chocolate syrup brings a thick, cocoa-rich layer that pairs naturally with the coffee tones, and cream turns the whole drink plush and rounded. A small pinch of ginger adds a gentle, warming lift, and vanilla essence ties the chocolate-and-coffee combination together with a soft, aromatic sweetness.
Serve this in a lowball when you want something decadent and comforting—ideal for cold nights, festive get-togethers, or as a dessert alternative when you’d rather sip than spoon. It suits anyone who loves creamy coffee cocktails, chocolate-forward flavours, and a sweeter finish, and it’s especially satisfying as a slow, fireside-style treat.

Lowball / rocks glass
Ingredients
Cocktail Colin says:
Vodka keeps the base clean while coffee liqueur and chocolate syrup pile on mocha depth, sweetened further by simple syrup and rounded with thick cream; vanilla essence adds a bakery-like glow and a pinch of ginger flickers as gentle heat in the finish. It works because the ginger pricks through the creamy sweetness and the coffee liqueur reins in the chocolate, ideal for dessert-drink fans and anyone craving a cozy, low-effort nightcap.
