Essex Tailbite sits firmly in the modern “party shooter in a tall glass” tradition: a highball built for big, loud flavours and quick sipping rather than cocktail-house pedigree. With a base that mixes vodka, blanco tequila, and peach schnapps, it reads like a late-night, bar-friendly hybrid—part fruit-forward, part spirit-led, and unapologetically bold.
You’ll find clean vodka giving a neutral backbone while blanco tequila adds a sharper, more assertive edge. Peach schnapps brings the main sweetness and a ripe stone-fruit lift, which is nudged brighter by a dash of pineapple juice. A dash of cola adds familiar caramel-like sweetness and a darker, fizzy note that contrasts the fruit, while the energy drink contributes extra sweetness and a punchy, high-impact finish that amplifies everything else.
Serve it when you want something playful and high-energy—pre-drinks, house parties, or a big night out where subtlety isn’t the goal. It suits drinkers who like sweet, mixed-flavour highballs with a spirited kick, and it’s especially appealing when you’re after a crowd-pleaser that tastes like the night is just getting started.

Ingredients
Cocktail Colin says:
Vodka and tequila blanco hit first with a clean, sharp bite, quickly wrapped in peach schnapps sweetness and a flash of pineapple juice, while cola adds caramel fizz and the energy drink brings a loud, candied tang. It works because the fruit and soda soften the spirits’ edges and the energy drink amplifies the sugar rush; ideal for party drinkers who like bold, fast, sweet highballs.

FAQ's
How does the alcohol content of Essex Tailbite compare to other cocktails?
The Essex Tailbite has an alcohol content of 31.67%, which places it on the higher end compared to many classic cocktails like the Margarita or Mojito that usually have an alcohol content around 10-20%. It's more aligned with the stronger mixed drinks or shots that combine multiple spirits.
What is the best way to serve the Essex Tailbite?
The Essex Tailbite is best served in a highball glass, cold, and stirred, not shaken. The use of a highball glass allows for the perfect balance between the cocktail components and the addition of ice, keeping it cool and diluting the drink slightly over time for a smoother taste.
Can I substitute any ingredients in the Essex Tailbite if I don't have them all?
Yes, you can substitute ingredients in the Essex Tailbite. If you don't have peach schnapps, you could use another fruit liqueur or schnapps. For the energy drink, any brand will do, and if you're out of pineapple juice, try another tropical juice like mango or papaya for a similar fruity sweetness. Remember, substitutions may alter the taste.
Is the Essex Tailbite suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
Since the Essex Tailbite is made with alcoholic beverages that typically don't contain animal products, it should be suitable for vegetarians and vegans. However, it's always best to check the individual beverage brands used for any animal-derived processing agents.
How can I customize the Essex Tailbite to make it less strong without compromising the flavor?
To make the Essex Tailbite less strong while maintaining its flavor, you can reduce the amounts of vodka, peach schnapps, and tequila slightly and increase the non-alcoholic components like the pineapple juice and cola. You could also add more energy drink for an extra kick without increasing the alcohol content.
