Blueberry-Apple Cordial sits in the fruit-forward, sparkling-cocktail family: a brandy-led cordial lengthened with bubbles and built around fresh produce. Rather than a drink with a fixed, widely told origin story, it reads like a modern celebratory serve—taking the orchard warmth of apple brandy and pairing it with Champagne or prosecco for lift. You’ll find it lands somewhere between a homemade cordial idea and a bright, toast-worthy spritz, with the fruit doing as much work as the spirit.
On the palate, apple brandy brings rounded, concentrated apple character that’s sweetly aromatic without needing extra complexity. Blueberries add deep, juicy berry richness, while sugar or simple syrup smooths any sharp edges and helps the fruit feel plush and cohesive. Lemon tightens everything up: its citrus bite pulls the sweetness into focus and keeps the berry-and-apple combination tasting vivid. Champagne or prosecco then lightens the whole profile, turning the fruit and brandy into something crisp, fragrant, and refreshing.
Serve it in a Champagne glass when you want something that feels festive but still tastes like real fruit. It suits brunch toasts, garden parties, and any occasion where you want bubbles with a little more depth than a straight sparkling wine. If you like bright citrus, ripe berries, and the warming backbone of brandy, this is an easy crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients
Cocktail Colin says:
Apple brandy leads with warm orchard depth, lifted by Champagne/prosecco sparkle, while blueberries bring jammy richness and lemon adds a bright snap; sugar/simple syrup rounds everything into a glossy, cordial-like fruit core. It works because the bubbles and lemon keep the blueberry-sugar weight from feeling heavy, making it ideal for anyone who likes fruit-forward, brandy-backed spritzes in a Champagne glass.

FAQ's
Can I use a different type of brandy than apple brandy in the Blueberry-Apple Cordial?
Yes, you can use different types of brandy in the Blueberry-Apple Cordial if apple brandy is not available. Pear brandy could be a good alternative, offering a similar fruit-based flavor profile that complements the blueberries. However, using a different brandy may alter the original taste of the cocktail.
What garnishing would you recommend for the Blueberry-Apple Cordial to enhance its presentation?

Is there a specific temperature at which the Blueberry-Apple Cordial is best served?
The Blueberry-Apple Cordial is best served chilled. You can either refrigerate the ingredients before mixing or serve the cocktail over ice to ensure it's cold. This enhances the refreshing qualities of the drink, especially suitable for warmer weather or as an evening refreshment.
How does the alcohol content in the Blueberry-Apple Cordial compare to a standard wine?
The Blueberry-Apple Cordial has an alcohol content of 17.51%, which is higher than most standard wines, which typically range from 11% to 14% alcohol by volume (ABV). This makes the cordial a stronger choice, so it should be consumed in moderation.
What season or time of year is ideal for enjoying the Blueberry-Apple Cordial?
The Blueberry-Apple Cordial, with its use of fresh blueberries and crisp apple brandy, is perfectly suited for late spring through to early fall.
