FAQ's
Why is The BEMCo cocktail shaken and not stirred?
Shaking The BEMCo cocktail, as opposed to stirring, is done to thoroughly mix the vodka, lime juice, and sugar syrup together, creating a uniform flavor and temperature throughout the drink. This technique also adds aeration, giving the cocktail a slightly frothy top which enhances its texture and appearance.
What is the ideal way to serve The BEMCo?
The BEMCo should be served in a whiskey glass, as recommended. For the best experience, you might want to chill the glass beforehand and consider adding a few ice cubes to the drink to keep it cold without diluting it too quickly. Serving it cold emphasizes the refreshing qualities of the lime and cola.
Can I substitute the vodka in The BEMCo with another type of alcohol?
Yes, you can substitute vodka in The BEMCo with other types of clear spirits to suit your taste or availability. White rum or gin can be good alternatives, offering a different flavor profile while maintaining the spirit of the original cocktail. Keep in mind that substituting the alcohol will alter the taste and possibly the alcohol content of the drink.
How does the alcohol content of The BEMCo compare to other classic cocktails?
The BEMCo has an alcohol content of 11.01%, which places it on the lower end of the spectrum compared to classic cocktails like the Margarita (around 14%) or the Manhattan (around 30%). This makes The BEMCo a milder choice, suitable for those who prefer a less potent cocktail experience.
What are some ways I can customize The BEMCo cocktail to suit my taste?
To customize The BEMCo cocktail, you could play with the sweet and sour balance by adjusting the amounts of lime juice and sugar syrup. Adding fresh fruit garnishes such as lime wedges or cherries can introduce new flavors and colors. You might also experiment with flavored colas or adding a dash of bitters for complexity.
