Bramble Margarita is a modern, fruit-forward riff that blends the bright, citrusy structure of a Margarita with the dark-berry pull you’d expect from a bramble-style drink. Rather than leaning on a long backstory, it sits firmly in contemporary “twist” territory: familiar tequila-and-orange liqueur foundations, updated with blackberry liqueur and extra juice for a more plush, crowd-pleasing profile.
You’ll find tequila blanco bringing clean agave bite, while Cointreau adds orange sweetness and a lightly bitter citrus edge that keeps things crisp. Lime juice supplies the snap and tang that defines the drink, and orange juice softens that acidity with rounder, juicier citrus. Blackberry liqueur layers in deep berry sweetness and colour, and a touch of sugar/simple syrup smooths the sharper corners so the fruit and citrus feel integrated rather than competing.
Serve it in a cocktail glass when you want something that reads “Margarita” but drinks a little richer and more playful. It suits warm-weather sipping, pre-dinner rounds, or anyone who likes their tequila cocktails on the sweeter, fruitier side without losing that zesty lime lift.

Ingredients
Cocktail Colin says:
Tequila blanco leads with crisp agave bite, quickly wrapped in Cointreau and orange juice brightness, while lime juice snaps the midpalate and blackberry liqueur lays down a dark, jammy finish, all rounded by simple syrup. It works because the lime’s acidity and tequila’s edge keep the orange-and-berry sweetness from turning cloying; ideal for margarita fans who want a fruitier, softer sip.

FAQ's
What is the best way to serve a Bramble Margarita?
The best way to serve a Bramble Margarita is cold in a cocktail glass. You should shake the ingredients with ice until well-chilled and then strain the mixture into the glass. Optionally, you can garnish with a lime wheel or blackberries to enhance both the presentation and the flavor.
Can I make a non-alcoholic version of the Bramble Margarita?
Yes, you can make a non-alcoholic version of the Bramble Margarita by substituting the alcoholic ingredients with non-alcoholic alternatives. Use non-alcoholic tequila for the tequila, and for the Cointreau and blackberry liqueur, you can use non-alcoholic orange and blackberry-flavored syrups, respectively. Adjust the quantities to taste.
What food pairs well with a Bramble Margarita?
A Bramble Margarita pairs well with a variety of foods. Its fruity and slightly tart profile complements spicy Mexican dishes, grilled seafood, and light appetizers like ceviche or guacamole and chips. For dessert, a tangy lemon or lime-flavored dish would contrast nicely with the cocktail's sweetness.
How does the alcohol content of a Bramble Margarita compare to that of a standard Margarita?
The alcohol content of a Bramble Margarita is approximately 20.77%, which makes it slightly higher in alcohol content compared to a standard Margarita, which typically ranges from 15% to 20% alcohol by volume (ABV), depending on how it's made. The addition of blackberry liqueur and Cointreau in the Bramble Margarita adds to its alcohol content and depth of flavor.
Is the Bramble Margarita a modern cocktail creation?
The Bramble Margarita appears to be a modern twist on the classic Margarita, incorporating the idea of a Bramble cocktail, known for its combination of berry flavors with spirits. While the classic Margarita has origins dating back to the 1930s-1940s, this adaptation with the inclusion of blackberry liqueur and a mix of orange and lime juices represents a contemporary innovation that combines elements of both traditional and modern cocktail crafting.
