Cocktails for the Pub Garden
Jump to
The Covid-19 pandemic has truly dragged on, but now that pubs with gardens are being allowed to reopen with social distancing measures in place, we can finally enjoy a companionable cocktail. Its been so long since anyone has stepped foot inside a public house that you might have forgotten what liquid delicacies are on offer! Here are five fail-safe cocktails that are sure to taste divine when enjoyed in the cosy surroundings of a warm pub garden.
Margarita
Is there a better drink to enjoy in the British sunshine? Incredibly alcoholic, relatively easy for a new bartender to learn and ever-so tasty, this is a classic cocktail that tastes nicer with every sip. An elegant blend of tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and salt, you might not make it till closing if you drink too many!
Negroni
Lockdown may have eased, but many pubs will still be finding their feet, so it makes sense to keep your cocktail orders simple. The Negroni is the perfect example of a drink that is quick and easy to make and only needs a couple of staple ingredients to create something spectacular. Gin, Campari and sweet vermouth come together to make the perfect end-of-lockdown celebratory drink.
Whiskey Sour
If you like your Whiskey Sour without the egg white, then you are likely to be able to order one of these classic cocktails. A tasty blend of whiskey, lemon juice and sugar, only one shake is needed if you are going egg-free. If you are frequenting a bar that has prepared for an onslaught of cocktail orders, you may be lucky enough to enjoy your cocktail with an egg white, in which case the bartender will have to spend a little extra time on an additional shake.
Mimosa
Its not a party without champagne, right?! If, however, you have been tee-total throughout lockdown, you might want to pace yourself in order to last through the night. Add a little orange juice to create a mimosa and enjoy this fruity, fizzy concoction while socialising (at a distance) in the sun!
Pardon the interruption
Did you know that you can become a member for free, taking your cocktail making skills up to level 11. You can save your My Bar ingredients, make tasting notes, have personalised Tried and Want to try lists and more.
Mint Julep
This is a drink worth saving for the hottest of summer days, since it requires an awful lot of ice! Made up of bourbon, mint leaves and simple syrup, it is fresh, sharp and incredibly alcoholic! Sip with care and savour every second!
Not every business will have survived the pressure of the global pandemic and those that have reopened will still be finding their feet and struggling with loss of takings. It is up to us to help keep our precious public houses running. If we need to drink a few cocktails along the way, then so be it!
