Cocktails to Put a Spring in Your Step

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the cocktails is! May is one of my favourite months, with longer days and milder temperatures, you know
its only a matter of time before summer arrives and socializing in the garden
becomes a weekly event. With that in mind, I've put together a selection of
cocktails that celebrate the change in season and are sure to give you those
lazy day vibes!

Pimms and Lemonade

This drink might not have a fancy, inappropriate cocktail name, but nothing signals the start of the warmer weather better than a jug of Pimms and
lemonade. This very British tradition is garnished with as much fruit as you
can fit in a glass, ideally with strawberries, cucumber, orange and mint. The
combination of flavours tastes extra special on a warm Spring evening.

Green Tea Mojito

An icy Mojito is the best way to cool down on a warm day, but this green tea variation gives it an extra caffeine boost, while also giving your body
essential antioxidants - bonus! The mint garnish is light and refreshing, while
the added sugar tastes wonderful in the sunshine. This cocktail is an
unexpected party pleaser!

Blueberry Rum Smash

There is something extremely satisfying about blueberries in the springtime. They have an extra sweetness that comes from being super fresh and seasonal and
they make a delightful cocktail ingredient too! When combined with ginger ale,
rum, brown sugar and lemon juice, the blueberries take on a whole new persona,
and we love it!

Cucumber Gin and Elderflower Martini

The most popular spirit in town is just as satisfying in the springtime, but it tastes decidedly fresher when combined with cucumber and elderflower. A
great way to update your favourite drink, this concoction of gin, lemon juice,
sugar, cucumber and elderflower liqueur is a sweet, moreish cocktail that you
are sure to crave on a warm afternoon.

El Diablo

It's sweet, it's fruity and it's best served when filled with ice, making it the ideal May day drink. The El Diablo mixes the decadent taste of crème de
cassis with lime juice, tequila and ginger ale, making for a beverage that is
brightly coloured and potent. This is sure to have you dreaming of holidays in
exotic lands as you relax in your garden.

A springtime cocktail should be cold, refreshing and sweet, and we think this selection of drinks hits the spot every time. Have a great May everyone!

Bartender's top tip

Ice plays a crucial role in cocktails, not just for chilling but also for dilution, which can help meld flavors together smoothly. Use large, clear ice cubes or spheres for spirits-forward drinks like Old Fashioneds, as they melt slower and dilute the drink less. For more refreshing, highball-style drinks, ensure your ice is fresh and plentiful to keep the drink cold and vibrant.
