The Hidden Secrets of Make me a Cocktail
Fun! A simple small word, one that potrays amusement, enjoyment and a sense of adventure. When we started to re-build Make me a Cocktail, one key word that was always plastered across the designers ans builders desks, was 'Fun'. We wanted to not only build a great, useable site, but also a site that would be fun to use and fun to share. With that in mind, throughout the site a multitude of little easter eggs of fun were programmed in that gave explorers and adventurers of the site a little something back.
Here's out top 5 hidden secrets of fun that you can find throughout the site:
I Don't Know What to Search For
Ok so try this - right now if you like. Click on the magnifying glass in the top search box without anything entered, and the system starts to have a think of a great cocktail that you might like. Click the magnifying glass again after it comes up with a result and get taken to the results for that cocktail. Hello fun number 1!
Filter Me' Lists
We went a little pirate there, sorry, but ahoy me hearties try the glass filtering capabilities in lists. So say you have that Friday Feeling .... click on any of the glasses in the list stats and watch as we collapse and expand the list cocktails based on the cocktail glass.
"The numbers all go up to eleven!"
In homage to one of Spinal Tap's greatest scenes, we decided the Six Shooter cocktail rating should go all the way to 6. Everything is averaged out correctly so it sits in the same position in result liss, but the rating goes up to 6. Well it's one better isn't it?
Can I Make This
The 'My bar' feature on the site is one of our favourite features - and with it we can do some great things. For instance if you've added ingredients to 'Your Bar' and take a look at a cocktail, the cocktails ingredients list will change colour depending if you have the relevant ingredient. If you do, the ingredient bullet will be green, if you don't the bullet will be red, and if you have a possible substitute it will show in orange. Heck, hover over the ingredient that is orange and it will even show you what you could substitute for that ingredient. That's cool!
Bar Mode
So you've got a few people over, are using the site in a bar, or just want to see the cocktail recipe without any of the gumf that the site gives you normally. Don't worry, we thought of that too. On every cocktail you can enter its 'Bar mode'. This mode loads up the recipe full screen with just the necessary information shown. To activate it simply click on the 'Bar mode' icon on the right hand side options.
