Caribbean Cocktails

Explore 82 Caribbean cocktail recipes.

Caribbean cocktails sit at the intersection of rum, sugar and citrus — three ingredients the islands have shaped into more cocktails than just about any other region. The Rum Swizzle is a good entry point: aged rum, lime, sugar, a few dashes of bitters, swizzled hard over crushed ice until the glass frosts over. The Old Cuban is the more polished entry, layering aged rum and mint with sparkling wine for a fizzier, drier read.

The Bahia goes creamier, more dessert-leaning, with coconut and pineapple over rum. The Hurricane Suzy and Reggae Rum Punch both sit in punch territory — long, fruit-laden, designed for crowds. The Ti' Punch trims everything back: agricole rum, a sugar lump, a coin of lime, no ice, no fuss.

What ties this list together is rum doing the spine work, with each cocktail interpreting it differently — aged rum for length and warmth, white rum for brightness, agricole rum for grass-and-sugarcane edge. Most are shaken or built, most run sweeter than the equivalent stirred drinks elsewhere in the canon, most reward fresh lime and decent rum over the budget bottle, and most do better in tall glassware with plenty of ice than in coupes. Treat them as long drinks rather than short ones and they read more honestly.
