Summer Cocktails

Explore 1326 Summer cocktail recipes.

Summer is when cocktails earn their keep — long days, warm evenings, drinks that match the temperature instead of fighting it. The list here leans heavily on cold, long, citrus-driven builds. The Mojito sits at the head of the pack: white rum, fresh mint, lime, sugar and soda built over crushed ice in a tall glass, designed to be sipped slowly while the ice melts and the drink stretches itself.

The Tequila Sunrise and Long Island Iced Tea both go bigger and bolder, the first all juice-and-gradient theatre, the second a stronger pour disguised as a cooler. The Negroni earns its place even in summer, the bitter cold of the served-on-the-rocks version cutting through a warm afternoon better than most lighter drinks. Sex on the Beach, Cosmopolitan, Paloma and Bay Breeze round out the rest of the high-volume picks — all tall, all cold, all citrus-tilted.

Most of these shake or build, very few stir. The pattern that emerges across the list is straightforward: long format, plenty of ice, citrus pulling more weight than sweetness, and a garnish that earns its visual cost. Sweetness sits lower than it does in the winter list, fruit sits higher, dilution sits much higher.

The trick to building any of these well in summer is using better ice than usual and making the citrus is freshly squeezed — both matter more when the room is warm and the drink is going to last a while.
