Top bartender tip

"Experiment with cocktails for the season. Try ice-cold, citrussy or sparkling cocktails in warmer seasons and spicy, warm or creamy cocktails for the colder months."

An Olympic history lesson

The origins of the Olympics trace back to ancient Greece in 776 BC, where they were held in Olympia in honor of Zeus. These early competitions featured events such as foot races, wrestling, and chariot races. The games were held every four years and were a crucial part of Greek culture, fostering both athletic and religious significance. The ancient Olympics continued for nearly 12 centuries until Emperor Theodosius I banned them in 393 AD due to their pagan roots.

The modern Olympic Games were revived in 1896 by French educator Pierre de Coubertin. The inaugural event was held in Athens, Greece, with 13 countries competing in 43 events. The Olympics have since expanded to include the Winter Games, first held in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Noteworthy moments in the modern Olympics include the introduction of the Paralympic Games in 1960 and the inclusion of female athletes starting in the Paris Games of 1900. Today, the Olympics are a global phenomenon, drawing athletes from over 200 nations and featuring a diverse array of sports.
