Anti-Easter Cocktails
Jump to
It is safe to say that the true meaning of Easter is often lost in a commercial battlefield of Easter
eggs and relentless chocolate guzzling. For those that feel as though Easter is
becoming more about indulgence and less about religion, you might appreciate a
few cocktails with a little satirical edge.
Missionary’s Downfall
This super smooth cocktail is so sweet and fresh that even the most religious of missionaries might be convinced to take a break from spreading the word to enjoy a few
glasses. Made up of white rum, pineapple juice and muddled mint, it will give
you tropical vibes that will whisk your mind to lazy days on the beach, no
matter what the unpredictable April weather is up to.
El Diablo
You may already know that El Diablo is a Spanish term that translates to ‘The Devil’ in English. If
you didn’t, you do now! This potent mix could have been created by Satan
himself, since it is made up of tequila, crème de cassis, lime juice and spicy
ginger beer, making for an incredibly delicious combination that will lead you
into all kinds of temptation!
Pharaoh’s Lament
An ode to the slaying of the first born during Passover, this cocktail might only have a tenuous link to Easter, but it is worth trying for yourself anyway. Made of dry sparkling wine, absinthe and orange bitters, this is a very unholy recipe but it tastes amazing!
Weeping Jesus
A drink so alcoholic it would make Jesus cry, this cocktail is made with absinthe and peach liqueur combined with grenadine and lemonade. A sweet but very strong drink that is bright red in colour, this is sure to be a favourite over anti-Easter!
Jesus Juice
We'll leave the meaning behind this cocktail name to your imagination, but this is the kind of drink you have if you aren't planning on staying out too long. Served in a pint glass, this mix of cider, vodka, lager and whisky, with a splash of blackcurrant juice will get you drunk fast, so take it easy!
Pardon the interruption
Did you know that you can become a member for free, taking your cocktail making skills up to level 11. You can save your My Bar ingredients, make tasting notes, have personalised Tried and Want to try lists and more.
If the meaning of Easter has been hijacked by chocolate, then there is no reason why we can't enjoy a cocktail on the long weekend too!
