There’s nothing like an evening spent playing classic poker games like Blackjack, Poker and Roulette. Games like poker can take up most of the evening and can be most enjoyable when played in the company of friends, whether that be at the casino or online. If you’re thinking about hosting an online poker night at home and inviting friends, you may be wondering what drinks are best served alongside a poker evening.
No need to fret as we have you covered. Whether you are inviting guests with a more refined palette or friends that love the latest quirky cocktails complete with smoke on the top, there’s something for everyone when it comes to making the perfect cocktails for your evening. Set up a classic home game with chips and cards, or for a more laid-back vibe, consider hosting an online poker night using online platforms. So, before you dive into which poker games you are going to play, let’s take a look at the perfect drinks to accompany your night playing poker.
Lady Luck Cocktail
Not everyone is a natural when it comes to playing poker. While some of your friends may have gotten their poker face down to a tee, others may need a little more luck on their side and that’s where the Lady Luck cocktail comes in. While your friends might think it’s a bit of a cheeky gesture, we’re sure this drink will get 10/10 stars.
To make this, take 1 measure of Blue Curacao and 2 measures of a quality plain gin, followed by a top-up of fresh orange juice. Then just shake well, strain and pour to all of your guests.
Raspberry Martini
Nothing is as synonymous as a martini, shaken not stirred, and a casino. While you may not be hanging out with James Bond during your poker night, nothing is stopping you making your evening as refined as the 007 lifestyle by serving your guests a classy raspberry martini.
This sweet and fruit cocktail combines the crispiness of vodka with the sweet taste of raspberry liqueur and sugar syrup to add a hint of sweetness. If you’re a fan of sweet and sour flavors then this cocktail will suit you well. What’s more, if any of your guests have a sweet tooth then this cocktail will go down well too.
For those looking to elevate the evening further, consider pairing your raspberry martini with a fine cigar and whisky. A smooth, well-aged Scotch whisky will complement the sweetness of the raspberry, while the rich, smoky notes of a cigar such as Oliva Cuban cigars will add an extra layer of sophistication to your experience.
Robert Hess
This cocktail is best served in a child champagne glass and adds a sense of class to your poker evening, without making too much of a fuss about making complicated cocktails. If you want to keep your evening focused solely on poker, this is the perfect drink to serve your guests.
The cocktail contains 2 ounces of Gin, 1/8 ounce Lemon Juice, 1/8 ounce Maraschino Liqueur, 2 dashes Orange Bitters, and a Cherry Garnish. However, if the cherry garnish seems to make the drink too feminine then you can leave this off without any real consequences. Alternatively, you could have a game of ‘Who can tie the cherry stem with their tongue the quickest’ to add a bit of light hearted fun to your night.

The main taste in this drink is the gin so be sure to use a quality brand like hendricks.
Monte Carlo Cocktail
Monte Carlo is the capital of the casino world, so why not honor it with a Monte Carlo Cocktail. Similar to the above, this is another classic and refined cocktail, with a bit of added flair.
To make the drink, combine ¾ ounce of Benedictine with ¼ ounce of Rye Whiskey, before adding a dash of Classic Bitters to finish. Pour into the ice-filled mixing glass and stir well, before straining the liquid into the glasses.
High Roller Cocktail
While your poker evening may not be incredibly high stakes, it can sometimes be fun to pretend that is it. The high roller cocktail can be made by combining 1 measure each of Noilly Prat Dry and Hendricks Gin, with 0.5 measures of both Apricot Brandy and Triple sec.
In true James Bond style, you can add a green olive to this cocktail to make it complete.
Ritz Fizz Cocktail
You may not be playing at the Ritz Casino but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience the same luxury and glamor it has to offer. To create your classy poker night, combine 0.5 measures of Lime Juice, Disaronno amaretto and Blue Curacao respectively, before adding champagne as the final top up.
Overall, the main focus of your poker night should be on the game itself, however there’s nothing wrong with creating a bit more pizazz and entertaining your guests at the same time. With the above cocktails, you’ll be sure to have something up your sleeve whether it be a simple classic or a wow cocktail that your guests won’t forget.
