This recipe was originally featured by Binging With Babish on YouTube, for a Harry Potter-themed video. It's a delicious recipe that I find myself going back to quite often. Method
How to make a Butterbeer

Serves 1 · Takes 3 minutes
Pour cream soda into a chilled glass, making sure it's no more than half full as the drink will foam and can easily overflow
Pour all other ingredients into a cocktail shaker over ice and shake for about 15-20 seconds
Strain frothed mixture into the glass with cream soda, and serve
~ You should get a nice layer of foam on top as the frothed mixture mixes with the carbonation from the cream soda. ~

FAQ's

INGREDIENT_SUBSTITUTIONS

Can I substitute butterscotch schnapps in a Butterbeer cocktail?

Yes, you can substitute butterscotch schnapps with a combination of butterscotch syrup and a neutral spirit like vodka to maintain the alcohol content. Alternatively, for a non-alcoholic version, just use butterscotch syrup.

PREPARATION_TECHNIQUES

Is there a special technique required to mix the egg white into the Butterbeer cocktail?

Yes. To properly incorporate the egg white, it's recommended to perform a 'dry shake' first, which means shaking the egg white with the other ingredients without ice to create a frothy texture. Then, add ice and shake again to chill the drink.

SERVING_SUGGESTIONS

What's the best way to serve a Butterbeer cocktail for a thematic party?

For a thematic party, consider serving the Butterbeer in mugs or steins to emulate a fantasy tavern setting. Adding a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of edible gold dust can enhance the magical feel.

NON_ALCOHOLIC_VARIATIONS

How can I make a non-alcoholic version of Butterbeer?

To make a non-alcoholic version of Butterbeer, substitute the butterscotch schnapps with butterscotch syrup and omit the egg white to avoid raw egg. Use cream soda instead of the cream to maintain the fizzy and creamy texture.

OCCASION_SUITABILITY

What kind of occasions is the Butterbeer cocktail most suitable for?

Butterbeer is perfect for themed parties, especially those with a fantasy or wizarding theme, such as Harry Potter book release parties, Halloween, or any gathering that appreciates a touch of whimsy and nostalgia.
